Our Rabbi

The members of our Shul look forward to welcoming our new spiritual leader and teacher, Rabbi Ely Shestack, his wife Chana, and their daughter Adira,  on September 15th, 2016.

Rabbi Ely Shestack grew up in Bergenfield, New Jersey where he attended Torah Academy of Bergen County before studying in Israel at Yeshivat HaKotel.  He graduated from Yeshiva University with a major in philosophy and a minor in psychology and began studying for semicha at RIETS.  He and his wife, Chana, served as the youth directors and NCSY city directors in Albany, NY.  Rabbi Shestack also spent a year studying at YU’s Gruss Kollel in Jerusalem.  This past summer, he served as Summer Rabbinic at Congregation BIAV in Kansas City while simultaneously interning at the local Jewish Family Services.  This year, Rabbi Shestack is continuing his Semicha studies at YU while learning in the Fair Lawn Community Beit Midrash in the evenings. He is a shoel umaishiv (teacher’s assistant) in the Mazer Yeshiva Program at YU and also serves as a rabbinic intern in Brandeis University as part of the YU/OU JLIC Felowship.  Chana is studying in GPATs, Yeshiva University’s Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies at Yeshiva University.  Rabbi Shestack and Chana have an 18-month old daughter, Adira.
