 Rabbi Ely Shestack grew up in Bergenfield, New Jersey where he attended Torah Academy of Bergen County before studying in Israel at Yeshivat HaKotel.  He graduated from Yeshiva University with a major in philosophy and a minor in psychology.  He and his wife, Chana, served as the youth directors and NCSY city directors in Albany, NY.  Rabbi Shestack also spent a year studying at YU’s Gruss Kollel in Jerusalem and served as Summer Rabbi at Congregation BIAV in Kansas City while interning at the local Jewish Family Services.  During semicha, Rabbi Shestack was a shoel umaishiv (teacher’s assistant) in the Mazer Yeshiva Program at YU, served as a rabbinic intern in Brandeis University as part of OU JLIC, and participated in the Beit Midrash Program in Shomrei Torah in Fair Lawn, NJ.  Chana has a masters degree from GPATS, Yeshiva University’s Graduate Program in Advanced Talmudic Studies at Yeshiva University.  Rabbi Shestack received semicha from Yeshiva University. He is studying for an MSW at Rutger's School of Social Work. Rabbi Shestack and Chana have two daughters, Adira and Nava. Rabbi Shestack began his tenure as the Rabbi of Ahavat Achim in the fall of 2016.
